On booting the PC, I discovered that both B1 and B2 RAM
slots were not working. PC doesn't boot if I put RAM on either B1 or B2

ram slots and it worked.
Another was that there were only five
expansion slots, which tended to get filled up by essential hardware - a PC with a graphics card, memory expansion, parallel card and serial card was left with only one open slot, for instance.
